“Party Building Alliance” Leads “Medicine-teaching Integration”: Experts of Wuhan Mental Health Center Visited Jianli

On the afternoon of February 10, the Jianli Primary and High School Psychological Health Service “Medicine-teaching Integration” Pilot Program and Children and Adolescents’ Psychological Health Lecture, organized by Hubei Mental Health Specialty Party Building Alliance, Hubei Psychological Health Specialty Alliance, Wuhan Social Psychological Service Industry Association, Wuhan Mental Health Center (Wuhan Hospital of Psychotherapy), Jianli Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, Jianli Health Bureau and Jianli Education Bureau and co-organized by Jianli Mental Health Center and Jianli High School, was successfully held at Jianli High School.

The event was attended by experts from Wuhan Mental Health Center, all staff members of Jianli Mental Health Center and all faculty members and students of urban schools like Jianli High School.

Bringing psychological health services to campuses and striving to build a social environment benefiting health psychological development of children and adolescents has been an important measure of the Party Committee of Wuhan Mental Health Center and Party Branches of Jianli Mental Health Center in their practices of cadres going to grassroots to understand people’s concerns and warm their heart as a response to the call of the “323” Pioneer Initiative and practice the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.

Liu Lianzhong, professor and President of Wudong Hospital, Li Wentian, Professor and Director of Psychosomatic Medicine Section of WMHC, Tang Jun, Professor and Director of Children Rehabilitation Department and Children and Adolescents Psychological Disorders Section provided lectures on psychological health titled Family Education from the Perspective of Psychological Health, Psychological Development of Adolescents and Self Psychological Adjustment and Identification and Intervention of Common Psychological Problems in High School Students. The lectures provoked bursts of applauses and were well received by faculty members, students and parents.

The Hubei Mental Health Specialty Party Building Alliance and Hubei Psychological Health Specialty Alliance initiated by Wuhan Mental Health Center (Wuhan Hospital of Psychotherapy) are mainly comprised of mental health specialty hospitals and comprehensive hospitals within Hubei Province, complemented by grassroots medical and health institutions, as well as maternity and child care institutions. Committed to “improving psychological service system, strengthening psychological health services and promoting the stability of social mentality”, the alliances continuously deepen their cooperation areas to unleash the “benefits” of high-quality resources. With these platforms, Wuhan and Jianli are able to join hands to carry out medicine-teaching integration programs by effectively integrating resources and coagulating strengths to build the children and adolescents’ psychological health service system of Jianli and even push forward its high-quality development across the entire province. Wuhan Mental Health Center will spare no effort to provide effective support and help for the medicine-teaching integration program in Jianli and contribute the experience of Wuhan towards building a “safe haven” for children and adolescents’souls.

Since 2021, Wuhan Health Commission and education authorities have collaborated on carrying out Primary and High School Students’ Psychological Health Promoting Medicine-teaching Integration programs. By implementing psychological health assessment for students, parents and teachers, opening volunteer consultation channels, collaboratively handling psychological crisis, improving teachers’ professional psychological skills and honing students’ and teachers’ psychological quality, the authorities have exploratively established a synergistic psychological health service model encompassing families, schools, hospitals and society in Wuhan.

Since the implementation of the program, Wuhan Mental Health Center has entered agreements with multiple primary and high schools in Wuhan. With referrals from green channel, the Center has operated a students’ and nighttime clinic services, implemented psychological assessment for students, teachers and parents, carried out psychological crisis intervention for students and compiles psychological knowledge manuals and service instructions, gaining a large body of experience in promoting psychological health of children and adolescents.
